Crowsfeet Production sent me this new release from Paul Mark. I found it to be entertaining, although a bit different from the Blues line I like to run.
Paul writes all of his own stuff and ‘endorses no products of any kind’!!! Each one of the tunes on this cd differ widely in style, genre’ tempo and lyrics. Some are more pleasing than others, but overall a nice job. The songwriting is one of the strongest features, but Paul’s guitar work can be very tasty or overdriven.
The opening tune Fritos, BBQ & Scotch is kickass. It drives musically and lyrically. Never again does it too, but totally and refreshingly different. The 30 lbs. In 30 Days tune is a play on today’s mentality of quick results. A lot of Paul’s songs deal with mental health issues or Conspiracy! Later in the cd the guitar playing cleans up and Stake Out is a stand out tunes. Both Times Have Changed and Small Heaven have catchy grooves, and great touch in the music. The later featuring Paul’s fine piano work.
This is Paul Mark’s sixth cd and it is good enough for me to check out some of his earlier releases.
