Instrumental blues is something that adds a change of pace in a CD that has made a statement.  A whole CD of instrumentals just didn’t work for me.  I think the blues has something to say and this ain’t it.  The gal on the cover is the best part of the CD.

Give Jimmy Thackery the starting line and you are on your way to those mile melting road raves.  Add more of the top players of today and you’ve got tunes for the road.  Deborah Coleman, Studebaker John, Mitch Woods and my new favorite, Hamilton Loomis, fill out a Cd that will keep you going on a long road trip.  This compilation disc is a winner.

You can’t go wrong with Jimmy Thackery as book ends and a host of top notch artists in between.  Great variety, without it sounding like it is just a bunch of tunes.  Lots of my favorites here, like Debbie Davies, Studebaker John, E.C. Scott, Big Bill Morganfield, to name a few.  I’d recommend this one to my fellow blues enthusiasts.
