In October 2004 the Blues Blowtorch Society joined forces with the River City Blues Society and the Central Illinois Blues Society to host a regional blues challenge. The response was overwhelming, with 17 bands competing for the top spot and the chance to attend the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee in February 2005.
