2010

Eric organized and promoted The Pantagraph's “Nothin’ but the Blues Festival,”
which brings crowds of more than 5,000 music enthusiasts to the Bloomington-Normal community every summer.
The annual blues festival was just one of many ways he positively impacted our community.
The Nothin But The Blues Festival Volunteers, Sponsors and Friends are deeply saddened by his passing.

  TRIBUTE TO TAP

Founder of Nothin’ But The Blues Festival
Eric Dean "Tap" Tapley
June 21, 1959 - May 22, 2010

A man with a big heart,
He lived his life fully as though
there was no tomorrow,
If he knew you and loved you, it was unconditional,
If you needed help, he cared for you unselfishly,
If you were his friend, you were a friend for life,
A kind soul who meant much to many,
He shared his love for life,
humor and music with all,
The world is a better place because he lived.

May he now Rest in Peace

A Granit Bench and Oak Tree were placed at Tri-Lakes
 in memory of Eric.

On Friday, July 16 and Saturday July 17, the 9th annual Nothin' But the Blues Festival was held at Tri-Lakes in Bloomington, Illinois and organized by Chances Entertainment, with some help from the Pantagraph, volunteers from the Blues Blowtorch Society, and a host of other valuable sponsors. The weather was great -- very hot. The only thing hotter was the music!!
